Work Disability Prevention
On a daily basis Dr. Quesnele teaches his patients about proper postures and ergonomics as it relates to work. Our society is developing chronic illnesses at staggering rates. There has been a recent push in the literature to utilize the concept of incorporating physical activity in the work place. Sitting has become the new smoking of our generation. This needs to stop. Get up and move. Experts have advocated for thinking outside the box, or the cubicle for that matter, when it comes to engaging the workplace to become more active. Incorporating micro-breaks of physical activity will pay off in very large proportions, not only for your physical health, but also your mental, cardiovascular and social well being. Research in these areas continues to mount. A two minute break or changing your posture, stretching, going for a small walk or walking a couple of flights is exactly what you need. This gives the muscles, your eyes, and brain a refreshing break and also promotes better productivity. After all, when you are moving, blood is flowing at greater rates to your brain. The concepts of walk meetings or treadmill desks are also picking up steam. The equation is simple. Move more, sit less. Incorporating these small changes into your day will result in a better you. See 'Resources' for a presentation on ergonomic education, as well as simple posture and stretching exercises.
